Keeping Perspective with Difficult Clients
4 Types of Challenging Clients
This article was great to read and we do have these clients in our office. But it is okay. In the article the 4 Types of Challenging Clients, Chris Hargreaves identifies four types of clients who make an attorney’s job more difficult and make a clients’ case costlier. Here at Kathryn Wayne-Spindler and Associates, we recognize the stress our clients are under. It is therefore understandable that our clients want to be as involved in the legal process as possible, whether it be to reduce costs or to come up with unique ideas to resolve their cases. With that in mind, we appreciate the clients Mr. Hargreaves terms ‘the know-it-alls’, who attempt to handle their own matters, and the ‘what if we’ clients, who run ideas past us. We also understand and sympathize with the clients who think everything is urgent and hope to complete our work as quickly as is reasonably possible, so our clients can rest easy. However, we agree with Mr. Hargreaves and find it particularly painful when clients refuse to read the documents we send. Not only is it important for a client to understand their duties and requirements set forth in the documents but reading documents can save clients’ money. We recommend clients read Mr. Hargreaves article, 4 Types of Challenging Clients to better understand the client role and to find methods to reduce their costs. We do work very hard to keep in mind that the reason our clients come to us is that they are dealing with one of the most difficult times in their lives.
